Even the very young dancer soon realizes that dance is serious work. It is a discipline and every aspect of your body affects your dancing skill. In order to excel in ballet, or any other style of dance, you must be healthy, and your body must be working efficiently.
We will share with you some tips gathered from dancers around the world, to help you recover, and fuel your body while dancing. What works for someone else may not be your choice, but only by trying will you know.
Before you begin
We all know we must eat properly, rest properly, and drink plenty of fresh, clean water before we begin our dance routines. However, you must also prepare yourself mentally. It is almost like turning on a switch that tells your body, “it is time to get busy”.
All professional athletes practice this. An easy way is to dress for the job at hand. Just as a runner must wear the correct shoes, a dancer must wear the correct attire to allow movement and the mental motivation you need to flip that switch.
The type of dance you do will determine the proper attire. Wearing the proper attire allows you to move more freely, and the fabric is designed to allow airflow to the skin. While a student of ballet will wear tights or leotards, a jazz dancer or hip-hop dancer may need to invest in some comfortable and properly fitting dance pants.

Fuel
A well-balanced diet is essential for any dancer. Because the dancer uses a lot of fuel, he or she will need three balanced meals per day as well as two healthy snacks. Carbohydrates convert to fast fuel, but be careful not to over do it, or you will experience an inevitable crash.
To recover and refuel, always stop and rest when you are eating. Do not eat on the run. This causes you to rush, over eat, and hampers the digestion system. Fruit bars and smoothies are great tools, but even with those, you should take 5 and take some good deep breaths to get the blood flowing properly.
Sometimes you just want a treat
There is nothing wrong with a small indulgence from time to time. Celebrations sometimes demand a treat. If you are having a recital or party, feel free to order some bulk candy online for the event.
Be selective. A good candy supplier will be able to assist you with the right treats. You should request vegan-friendly candies. Many candies are made with gelatins which are made of beef products. The gelatin usually contains cow skin, ground bone, and cartilage. They may also contain lard, milk products and other ingredients that are just not good. No one wants that in their body. You can also request sugar-free, allergy-friendly, gluten-free, kosher, and fat-free selections. By communicating with your supplier, you and your group can enjoy some sweet treats from time to time, without worry.
The best thing is there are a lot of vegan-friendly candy selections. Dark chocolate, Air Heads, Double Bubble gum, Twizzlers, Skittles and a lot of other selections are vegan-friendly.
The life of a dancer is not easy. However, you do not choose to be a dancer, dance chooses you. Learn to listen to your body and it will tell you want it needs and when it needs it. Just remember to be kind and treat yourself every now and then. After all, you deserve it.
